I've done only a very tiny amount of testing against falsing. I presume this is because the noPhoto has more false filtering. In fact, the Chinese flash shows more sensor blooming due to overexposure and covers up more of the plate. So as you can see, they both seem to work well.

The plate flashes should have more of an impact on the images.

These shots are more realistic at ISO 1600, so they're closer to what you'd see in real life. This is from another test in overcast light. We can walk the ISO up to 800, making the camera a little more sensitive. These camera settings are tougher than what you'd see in real life. These shots are at a really low ISO, ISO 400, which makes it VERY hard on these flashes to do their job. With quick shots, it works as intended shooting one side than the other. 4 sec exposures and it refired the same head after waiting a few sec. (Sorry that the ebay flash shows the same side firing. They both actually seem to work quite well. Okay, let's take a look at the noPhoto now compared to this thing, side-by-side. we'll crank the ISO way up to make it more of a true night time scenario, and then we'll do some sideways facing flashheads to see if bouncing the flash off of the plate itself is more effective than flashing directly back into the camera. Yay lidar!)Īs you can see, these results are basically the same as what we saw when shooting in direct sunlight, even though the light is coming entirely from the flash now instead of the sun. This setup has the plates 20 feet away from the camera. The way these images will be ordered, they'll be first straight out of camera, and then Photoshopped to lower the exposure and highlights, just like before. ISO 200, f/8, 1/250 (shutter speed is irrelevant since it doesn't contribute to the exposure)

Camera settings were the same as what I shot in full sunlight so that we can keep an apples-to-apples comparison between them. Here's some "day time" tests indoors with the flash providing 100% of the light for the exposure and making the flash as bright as the sun. A few more test shots, in the interest of testing lots of different conditions and camera settings like patsy said.
